Rollers or compactors, are popular pieces of equipment for construction, roadwork, landfill work, and more. They range from walk-behind compaction plates to large single- and twin-drum rollers that weigh 50 tonnes or more. Due to the introduction of hand-arm vibration (HAV) regulations in 2005, many manufacturers began focusing less on handheld models and instead started developing remote controlled rollers, although there are some brands that still offer handheld models designed to reduce vibrations for the operator. Some manufacturers continue to find ways to introduce vibration-isolated cabs and seats and other solutions.
